Also Father’s background as an extra because Greed is the physical manifestation of Father’s greed. This last link might be unnecessary but I think it’s worth linking anyway, just for the extra insight I think Father’s background can give on Greed.

PERSONALITY: Greed is a truth within a truth.

The first truth is that he is Father’s greed, extracted out of him and given physical form, and thus, full of avarice. He wants money, fame, power, sex, women, immortality and pretty much everything else a person could want. Even to rule the entire world. And that is who he sees himself as, and who he introduces himself to people as: a greedy homunculus who wants everything and will do anything to get it.

That is why he is the only one of the homunculus to have refused to work with Father. He wants everything, friends most of all, and that is something he could never have gotten under Father, who just views the homunculi as tools to use for his own ends and who is entirely willing to reabsorb any homunculi who disobeys him. All he could ever have been under Father is a slave, and Greed refuses to ever be put in that position, even with his life on the line.

And Greed hates Father for it. His scorn for Father is evident in the way he sasses him and how he passionately refuses to rejoin him, and is, along with Greed’s desire to help his friends, part of why Greed sacrifices himself to defeat Father in the final battle.

Greed is very sure of himself. When he introduces himself, he does it confidently and with evident pride in who he is, and when people say they don’t believe homunculi are real, he confidently tells them that nothing is impossible.

And when people mistake him for Ling, in his second body, he confidently corrects them by saying he’s Greed, not Ling.

So, Greed’s identity as Greed the Avaricious is very important to him, and he will assert it when he meets someone and/or when someone questions it because he can’t stand it when people think he’s not real or is someone he is not.

And he rarely lies - except to himself, about what he really wants, of course. He is too proud of who he is to ever want to, and is really rare for him to encounter a situation that he believes would warrant it. What you see is what you get with Greed, at least when it comes to what he says.

When he is captured by Wrath and taken back to the other Homunculi, he displays his cockiness and bravery by sassing them and not showing much fear at the prospect of his death or of seeing them. And he shows his hatred for them, particularly Father, blatantly, with how he snarks at them and how he says that he’ll never rejoin Father. And he doesn’t show much fear of the consequence of his refusal, when Father inflicts it on him.

But when you look beneath the surface, you find a second truth. And that one is that what Greed truly, really wants is friendship: people he cares about and who care about him, people he’s loyal to and who are loyal to him. But Greed is far too oblivious and wrapped up in his identity as Greed the Avaricious, the homunculus who wants everything, to realize that until he sacrifices himself in the final battle against Father.

Greed’s desire for friends is reflected in how he gets himself a whole gang of Chimeras and gets really angry when they were killed, Bido coming back and getting killed by Greedling is what causes him to get his memories of his first incarnation back and refuse to work with Father the second time around, he grows to like Ling while he is possessing his body, he gets sad after rejecting Ed’s offer to work with him and tries recruiting him to his own team after, and Greed, in the final battle, sacrifices himself for the sake of his friends.

He is loyal to his friends and he protects them. And the first time it is commented upon, Greed says that’s because they are his possessions and he doesn’t want anyone breaking anything that’s his. But, even though he says they are just stuff he owns, he really views them as more than that. His memories of his Devil Nest gang are his fondest ones, and he genuinely grieves for Bido after his memories come back.

And later, when he’s friends with Ed and everyone else on his team, he acts the same way. He fights with them against Father and his minions, and sacrifices himself in the battle against Father. And when people on Ed’s team are dead, hurt or in danger after he’s joined up with Ed, he is either sad and/or tries to protect them.

And finally, Greed, who is usually completely honest, tells his first and last lie to Ling so he can sacrifice himself to defeat Father. Because defeating Father is important to him and he’s realized that Ling cares far too much about him to let him go, and that, he thinks, is worth a lie to achieve.

Because Greed is in his original form on Prismatica, the stuff related to Ling’s body doesn’t apply.

Also, the immunity to contaminants should be nerfed for the sake of aphro and more plotty contaminants too.

I’m not sure if his immortality, rapid regeneration, self-sustenance, enhanced physiology and Ultimate Shield need to be nerfed but if they need nerfing, you can nerf them.

And his ability to see in low lighting conditions has nothing to do with his charisma, and I have no idea why that wiki editor decided to group those things together.

Also, his charisma is a skill or a talent, not a power. Like, Greed is only about as charismatic as the average charismatic, non-magical, non-super, totally ordinary human, and it all comes from his behaviour and the way he talks, not from magic or superpowers or whatever.
INVENTORY: There isn’t anything Greed could bring to Prismatica at this canonpoint so there’s nothing in his inventory.

Yeah, though please don’t go picking fights with him for no reason. Conflict can be fun to play out but I like it to have meaning and purpose, and not be just fighting for the sake of fighting. Like, if your character is going to punch Greed, you should have a clear reason in your head for why they would personally want to and not just be doing it ‘cause you like playing out combat. I am not a combat-oriented roleplayer and so trying a random fight scene with him would likely turn out disappointing for the both of us.

Greed is an adult, two hundred year old homunculus, and his first body (Greed 1.0, the one with the fur coat and called Greed in the icons) is an adult’s body. But his second body (Greedling, the one dressed in all black, without the fur coat, and called Greedling in the icons) is the body of a fifteen year old boy, Ling, (and shared with said fifteen year old boy in canon, though on some memes and in some games, it might not be). On an unrelated note, Greed is rather dominant and masculine and can be just A Lot in general so please, let me know if I need to tone it down or should avoid tagging you because of it. Or, of course, if there’s any other reason I shouldn’t tag you with him or any of my other characters. I will write full Opt Posts for my characters later.
